Sia launches smartphone-to-Pos payments

After the "Person to Person" (P2P) payments, Jiffy - the service developed by SIA to send and receive money in real time from the smartphone - arrives in stores.

In fact, the pilot phase of the project has started in the cities of Milan and Bergamo “Person to Business” (P2B) which allows customers to pay via the app at UBI Banca merchants. Other leading Italian banks have expressed interest in activating the service by next autumn.

With this new method, customers can identify the merchant via the app thanks to geolocation, by searching for the sign or directly in the shop by reading the QR Code, enter the amount of the expense and start the sending operation with a click money.

The merchant displays the payment in real time, checks the amount and confirms the transaction, with immediate availability of money in the current account. Finally, a notification of the outcome of the operation is automatically sent to both the customer and the shopkeeper, as well as communicating the confirmation of the payment to the acquiring bank.

Thanks to the technological collaboration between SIA and Ingenico, with Jiffy it will soon be possible to make payments from smartphones directly on the POS terminal of the shopkeeper enabled to receive credits in real time on his current account, in addition to payments
traditionally made with credit and debit cards.

Jiffy is available for smartphones with Android, iOS and Windows Phone operating systems and is characterized by speed and ease of use. To use the service, you must have a current account in a participating bank. To activate it, you must register on your bank's website and download the app provided by the bank itself.
