SCUDETTO CHALLENGE – Juve liquidates Chievo and extends to +7 on Rome, stop in Florence

La Juventus goes on the run. With the victory over Chievo (2-0) and Roma's draw in Florence (1-1) the points advantage over the direct rival becomes 7, perhaps not yet enough to talk about a closed championship but still a good booty. The days available to the Garcia's are many (18), but the games are firmly in the hands of the Lady, now more than ever.

A victory was expected from the bianconeri and it arrived, even if less easy than expected. In fact, it took a good hour of the match to beat Chievo, in which the Venetians kept up the field well, proving they could play it. Then he took the chair Paul Pogba, already renamed by the evil ones "mister 100 million". We don't know if the Frenchman will actually be sold (and if so at what amount), what is certain is that he is now with Juve and the results are there for all to see. It was he who unlocked the game with a terrific play: elastic to control the ball and unstoppable left foot from the edge of the area. Absolute class coup, moreover repeated 13 minutes later, albeit in a slightly different way. The Frenchman controlled and volleyed in a fraction of a second: super save by Bizzarri and winning tap by Lichtsteiner, for the final 2-0 (73'). “It was a very painful victory, we needed it because in recent times we've been used to ending matches too early – explained Allegri in the press conference. – The team has shown maturity and patience, I'm very happy." The coach enjoys a super Pogba (4 consecutive goals between the league and the Italian Cup), back at the top after a somewhat muted start to the season. “We don't discover his qualities today, he is destined to grow further and become the strongest midfielder in the world – thought the coach. – He is an extraordinary player, after a mediocre first half of the team he has come up with a really important play ”.

In fact, before the Frenchman's exploits, it hadn't been a transcendental Juve. A few opportunities from set pieces (Chiellini), a great shot from Vidal and little else. Thanks also to Chievo, good at not being intimidated by an unusually soporific Lady, perhaps aware that, sooner or later, one of his champions would have thought about it.

However, the seal on the perfect Sunday for the Bianconeri arrived a few hours later. In fact, Roma did not go beyond a draw on the Fiorentina field, confirming a phase of both physical and mental clouding. The Giallorossi had to attack the match from the start, but for a good part of the first half the Viola were the masters. After 20', as a logical consequence of total domination, they took the lead with Gomez, very good at putting his big foot on Pizarro's shot and beating De Sanctis. The blow stunned Roma a lot, closer to conceding the second goal than scoring the equalizer. But thanks to Viola's inaccuracy and a pinch of luck the match remained in the balance and this may be Fiorentina's only fault, still too "cicada" for the definitive leap in quality. At the start of the second half, the Giallorossi, in the meantime forced to replace Strootman with Pjanic, put everything back on a level with Ljajic, cold and precise in realizing the excellent work of Iturbe (49'). There the match risked turning completely upside down, with Roma pushing the accelerator and coming close to taking the lead with the former Veronese, stopped only by Tatarusanu's excellent outing. In the end, however, the tiredness (of both) had the upper hand and the teams settled for a draw. “We had a great second half, there was the reaction I wanted – Garcia's analysis. – I saw an ambitious team eager to score, with this spirit we will win many games. We have to be meaner for the whole 90 minutes and go our own way without looking at others." The reference to Juventus is not purely coincidental, even if there is the clear feeling that the coach above all wants to instill confidence in him, lately quite far from the ravenous "wolves" of the beginning of the year. The fate of the championship hasn't been sealed yet, but it's hanging by a thread. For the Giallorossi the arduous task of not breaking it completely.
