ROME-MILAN CHALLENGE – Lazio against Milan: goal for third place

Rome vs Milan act II. The confrontation between the capital and the Milanese capital, after yesterday's one at San Siro, now moves to the Olimpico which this evening (20.45 pm) will host the postponement between Lazio and Milan. A match that promises to be beautiful and interesting, both from a technical and ranking point of view. In fact, both teams are aiming for third place and need a win: that's why, tonight, the show shouldn't be missed. “If we want to achieve results, we will need the best Milan of the season – explained Mihajlovic. – Lazio are a great team but they have weaknesses and we know them. I am convinced that we will put in a good performance, we will go to the Olimpico to win”. A lot of confidence in the Rossoneri, evidently the result of the two victories with Sassuolo and Chievo which have restored enthusiasm to an environment on the verge of depression. And so, for the first time in a long time, Mihajlovic was able to experience a relatively serene vigil, "set on fire" only by Silvio Berlusconi's visit to Milanello. The president reiterated the absolute need to return to the Champions League and would not take kindly to any misstep against Lazio. "We have always said that third place is our goal" glossed over the Rossoneri coach, tonight ex par excellence given his splendid past in the Biancoceleste (6 seasons and 7 trophies, above all the 2000 Scudetto), but he too is aware the importance of the challenge. A victory would give Milan an impetus that was unimaginable just a few days ago, conversely a misstep would call everything into question.

It's a bit like what's happening at Lazio, where the excellent home results (5 wins out of 5) are contrasted with the disastrous away ones (1 win and 4 defeats). And so it becomes impossible to decipher with certainty the real value of the team: on the other hand, if you want to achieve prestigious goals, you can't think of winning only in your own stadium. “I told the players I'm not disappointed but pissed off – Pioli's speech. – This match comes at the right time, it's time to understand what we want to do when we grow up." Even at Lazio, in short, victory is almost an obligation and not only for questions of standings. In fact, next Sunday there will be the derby with Roma and no one in the Biancoceleste environment hopes to get there with water in their throats. Few calculations on both sides and a lot of ambition. Mihajlovic, waiting to have Balotelli back (still no certainty on recovery times), confirms the 4-3-3 formation of the last few games starting with the goalkeeper who, for the third consecutive time, will be the young Donnarumma. In front of him De Sciglio, Alex, Romagnoli and Antonelli, in midfield Kucka, Montolivo (favorite over De Jong) and Bertolacci, in attack Cerci, Bacca and Bonaventura. Pioli, after receiving yet another bad news about De Vrij (operated, he will be out for 3-4 months), will respond with the usual 4-2-3-1: Marchetti in goal, Basta, Mauricio, Gentiletti and Radu (favorite on Lulic) in defense, Cataldi and Biglia in midfield, Candreva, Milinkovic and Felipe Anderson in the frontline, Klose in attack. Nothing to do for Parolo and Keita: the Lazio coach will only be able to get them back for the derby.
