Seven Stones wins the Fedora Generali Prize for Opera

Il Fedora – Generali Prize for the Opera 2018 has been assigned Seven stones, co-production of the Aix-en-Provence Film Festival, during a ceremony that took place in Munich (Germany). Thus the collaboration between Generali and Fedora – The European Circle of Philanthropists of Opera and Ballet reaches its third year.

“Generali is proud to support the partnership with Fedora – said Philippe Donnet, CEO of the Generali Group – by supporting a new generation of talented artists in order to ensure the future of opera in Europe, nurturing new productions that are the expression of research and innovation and sharing this heritage with the community”.

The award recognizes talented international co-production teams formed by partners who collaborate to create new works; those who present projects by artists from different artistic backgrounds and whose aim is the staging of plays that have been composed or rediscovered in recent times or that have not yet been performed. The aim is to preserve and ensure the transmission of musical heritage, as well as to promote the continuous creative development of young talents and of this art form.

Seven Stones is an innovative work created by the young Czech composer Ondřej Adámek and the Icelandic poet Sjón (also lyricist of the singer Björk): it includes a wide variety of instruments and objects that are played by both the singers and the choir. Seven Stones reveals secret memories, through seven stories that tell of a stone collector's search and his extraordinary encounters from Buenos Aires to Paris, from Japan to Iceland.

Fedora works closely with the organization Opera Europa – the Professional Association of Opera Houses and Festivals in Europe, a leading professional network representing over 170 opera companies and opera festivals in 43 European countries.
