The energy transition is an important goal, and workers will also benefit. In fact they are in Italy around 50 people employed in the electricity sector and their collective agreement, which expired in December 2018, has just been renewed in an important acknowledgment of the role these employees will play in the coming years, as the country adjusts its resources, infrastructure and services to the Green New Deal: the overall increase in the three-year period 2019-2021 will be 124 euros, communicate the trade unions (Filctem Cgil, Flaei Cisl, Uiltec Uil), of which 104 euros on the contractual minimums (distributed in 3 tranches: 39 euros from 1 November 2019; 35 euros from 1 September 2020; 30 euros from 1 June 2021, with a one-off payment of 100 euros on 1 November), 15 euros on the productivity bonus and 5 euros on the "contractual welfare".

“This contract – he commented Marco Falcinelli, general secretary of Filctem Cgil – it will have significant economic increases that are well above inflation, the deviations from which will have no impact on minimum wages. A contract that offers all the tools to manage the complicated phase of the energy transition and that gives answers to young workers in the electricity sector regarding their future".

Also pleased with the corporate world, which through a joint press release of Future Electricity, Utilitalia and Free Energy speaks explicitly of the birth of the "energy transition contract" and of "sea change compared to the history of the electricity contract which until today had remained anchored to the logic of the past". "A contract - reads the note - the result of a dialogue and comparison between the parties to better grasp the benefits of the energy transition with a view to digitization, flexibility e empowerment of companies and workers.

“We have included some highly innovative elements in the contract, looking to the future of the electricity sector – he comments Simone Mori, President of Elettricità Futura – The energy transition represents an opportunity for businesses and for all colleagues working in the sector: for this reason it was essential to focus attention on training, digital processes and new ways of working. We are particularly satisfied with the work to modernize the contractual framework that we have launched together with the trade union organisations, with a view to making it increasingly consistent with what is required of all of us by the extraordinary challenge of decarbonising the Italian energy sector".

In addition to the increase in payroll, the agreement provides the extension of the scope of application of the contractual discipline to the new energy efficiency activities and commercial assistance services and the specificity of generation from small-scale renewable sources, for which the parties have undertaken to define specific specific contractual areas, with a view to competitiveness and sustainability.

Strategic importance was also placed on professional enhancement of human resources, guaranteeing the right to continuous training. Finally, the common commitment on issues of safety in the workplace, with the strengthening of the consultation and specific training phases and the strengthening of the role and tasks assigned to the sectoral Bilateral Body in order to increase the culture of safety and adapt it to technological changes.
