SERIE A – Vidal scores again and Juve clears Catania: controversy over Bergessio's disallowed goal

The bianconeri continue their unstoppable march towards their 29th scudetto, but this time in addition to the good game and the return of a brilliant Vidal to score, there is also a favorable referee episode: a regular goal by Bergessio was canceled at 0-0 – Good Bendtner's debut from the first minute.

SERIE A – Vidal scores again and Juve clears Catania: controversy over Bergessio's disallowed goal

Three points and a thousand controversies. This is the title that comes to us from Massimino of Catania, where Juventus found a very important victory which confirms them even more as leader of the championship. However, it is inevitable that we talk above all about the referee Gervasoni and his assistants, who heavily conditioned the match with their wrong decisions. The first crime happened in the 25th minute of a rather balanced game up until then: Bergessio scored the goal to make it 1-0, but the referee, after a long talk with his collaborators, annulled it for offside.

The images show that the decision is completely without foundation, therefore wrong. The culprit is Rizzoli, on the occasion goal judge, which leads us to two considerations. The first: the linesman (the only one in position) had opted for the goal, why not listen to him? The second, also in the light of what happened in Milan on Saturday, is even less Macchiavellian: but what are goal judges for? From then on, the match in Catania changed, with the hosts nervous as never before (even president Pulvirenti was expelled) and Juve increasingly in control of the pitch. The Vucinic-Bendtner duo didn't score, but still produced encouraging results. In fact, the match goal was born on that axis, with the Montenegrin good at unmarking the Dane, on whose shot Vidal countered by Andujar, who made it 0-1 with an empty net.

Here is the other big mistake of Gervasoni's day: Bendtner starts slightly (but indisputably) offside. Too much for Catania and for Pulvirenti, who at the end of the game showed up like a fury in front of cameras and notebooks: “Here it's not psychological subjection, there's certainly something more. What happened is unjustifiable, everyone saw that our goal was disallowed by the Juventus bench. And then their goal was offside. It's a scandal, it's a shame. It can happen that you make a mistake, but not that you change your mind on protest from the bench".

Rolando Maran, the Sicilian coach, was also very angry: “Our goal was regular, theirs was offside, there's nothing to comment on here, you do it on dubious occasions but what's doubtful about all this? I can't say anything, all this is so obvious that it's useless. There is bitterness, congratulations to the team for what has been done but we have suffered incredible damage”. On the Juve front, a pinch of embarrassment, but also the awareness of having played better than the opponents: “We played the match from start to finish – declared Alessio. – Andujar was the man of the match and this says a lot about the progress of the match. There was only Juventus on the pitch and Catania only defended themselves. Their goal disallowed by the Juventus bench? I don't think so, it's a decision of the referees. There could be a mistake, I'm sorry for this episode, but we played the match well”.
