The Romans smile – Roma liquidate Brescia with a dry 3-0, while Lazio catch the victory against Sassuolo (1-2) in the Cesarini area thanks to Caicedo

Serie A, Rome and Lazio fly to the Champions League area

The capital flies. Lazio and Roma take third and fourth place in the championship, albeit waiting for Lecce-Cagliari, postponed to this afternoon due to rain (15pm). In any case, the victories against Sassuolo and Brescia are worth a lot and, in addition to the points, they bring lots of good news. The biancocelesti confirmed themselves as a battle team, going once again to conquer the full spoils in the final: a sign of character, which after the successes in Florence and Milan is worth other decidedly important notches. The Giallorossi, on the other hand, are enjoying the Smalling-Mancini pairing, the real flagship of the summer transfer campaign, but above all Dzeko's return to goals, who scored again after a fast that lasted almost a month.

In short, a Sunday full of satisfactions, which projects the Capital into the full Champions League area. “We obtained an important and painful victory against an excellent team that plays very well – exulted Inzaghi. – We had also done well in the first half but unfortunately without being able to give it the lead, but then we managed to win by suffering all together. Honor to those who are ready like Caicedo, he has always remained on the bench with great humility and when I called him into question he was decisive ”.

A platinum success for Reggio Emilia, also because the match now seemed destined to end in a draw. After taking the lead thanks to yet another goal of the season by Immobile (34', thanks to a duck from Consigli), the Biancocelesti had Caputo join them right at the end of the half, good at exploiting Peluso's assist and beating Strakosha ( 45'). In the second half everything suggested a draw, instead the Caicedo factor entered the field, very cold to find the 2-1 goal with an unstoppable right foot (91 ').

Less painful but equally important was the victory of Roma, who came out of the confrontation with Brescia with a nice 3-0. Result matured in the second half, because the first half, to tell the truth, had been rather subdued, so much so that the best opportunities had been created by Grosso's team with Ndoi and Donnarumma. However, Smalling took care of preventing the match from becoming further complicated, thanks to a deflection by Cistana who made it 1-0 with a header (49'). Again the Englishman, evidently in a moment of grace, then propitiated the doubling of Mancini (57'), who in turn was very good at scoring a goal more as an attacker than as a defender, almost as if the month spent in midfield had elevated him technically. However, the most awaited moment came in the 66th minute, with Dzeko releasing himself with an easy tap-in on the edge of offside, moreover after the Var had just taken away a joy from Zaniolo. Shortly after, the "monitor" also stopped Dzeko and Ayé but the result, in fact, had already been archived, just like the yellow and red 3 points.

“I'm happy with the win but we need to improve – glossed over Fonseca. – In the first half we lacked both in intensity and aggression, but in the second half we did much better. Sometimes it's necessary to raise my voice, but the guys know I'm doing it for the good of the team." Now the focus shifts to the cups, with Roma still in the running and Lazio almost out. But given the league they're doing, it's a safe bet that the Romans have a very different Europe in mind.
