Gathered on the Croatian archipelago of Broni, the heads of state of Serbia, Bosnia Herzegovina and Croatia took part in an informal summit in which they discussed how to strengthen economic relations between the three Balkan countries and towards the EU.
An integrated infrastructure modernization plan as a "basic precondition for further development of business relations". This is what Ivo Josipovic, Croatian head of state, the Serb Boris Tadic and the three members of the Bosnian tripartite presidency, the Croat Zeljko Komsic, the Muslim Bakir Izerbegovic and the Serb Nejbosa Radmanovic would like.
The authorities ask their respective governments to set up "a permanent intergovernmental council with the task of harmonizing the activities of the three states for the construction of their infrastructures".
Here is the proposal: a regional network of motorways and expressways, railways and logistics centres, as well as the development of sea and river ports, on the Adriatic, Danube and Sava. "The possibility of opening new border crossings between the countries and towards the EU should also be taken into consideration", reads a joint note from the three Balkan nations.
These meetings are part of the conciliation and cooperation plan between the countries, where, in addition to business relations, the so-called "open questions" are discussed (from the conflicts of the nineties, the return of refugees and the restitution of property), all moves that give " proof of the vitality and credibility of the enlargement policy and which represents a strong signal to the countries of the region to continue with reforms and adaptation to EU standards”.
