The region most in the balance, in the elections for the Senate, is Lombardy, which sees, according to the first Instant Polls, the centre-left at 37,01% and the centre-right at 37% – the centre-right ahead in Veneto and Friuli, all the other regions held by the centre-left.

Senate, head to head in Lombardy

The first Instant Polls by Tecnè for Sky speak of a substantial tie in Lombardy between the two main coalitions, with an infinitesimal advantage of the centre-left, at 37,01%, over the centre-right, which would settle at 37%. If it wins in this region, the centre-left would obtain 169 seats in the Senate, against 81 for the group led by Silvio Berlusconi.

The other regions in the balance are Piedmont, where the advantage of the centre-left is 3 percentage points (37% against 34%) and Sicily (32% against 29%). The centre-right has a clear advantage, again according to Tecnè, only in Veneto (46% against 30%) and Friuli (40% against 33%). All the other regions would be fairly firmly in the hands of the centre-left.
