Segolene Royal, vanity pushes her to self-candidate for the Europeans with Melenchon under the sign of Putin

Gone are the days when Segolene Royal was a hope of the French socialists: now the lady wants to stand as a candidate in the European elections with the populist Melenchon under the banner of sovereignty who sympathizes with Putin and hates Zelensky

Segolene Royal, vanity pushes her to self-candidate for the Europeans with Melenchon under the sign of Putin

Tenacious she is, ambitious too, but above all vain, in spite of the many gaffes she collects. And this time vanity pushes Segolene Royal, several times minister and former socialist candidate for the Presidency of the Republic in the 2007 elections when she was defeated in the second round by Nicolas Sarkozy, to stand as a candidate in the next European elections with the left-wing populist group La France Insoumise (LFI) of Jean Luc Melenchon. Segolene is subscribed to political and electoral defeats but this has never prevented her from running as a candidate wherever the opportunity presents itself. You recently put forward your candidacy to lead the left with Melenchon in the next European elections, causing some bewilderment in Melenchon's allies. If it materializes, it will be a candidacy under the banner of sovereignty and appreciation for the Russia di Putin. Two pearls (so to speak) from Segolene give an idea: on the war between Russia and Ukraine the new candidate maintained that "it was the West that attacked Russia first" and on Zelensky he added that he "propagandas war through fear". These are not very different arguments from those used by the leader of the extreme right Marine Le Pen, but it's no wonder: in France as in Italy the "parallel convergences of opposing populisms" are everyday realities. Down from the tower, Mrs Royal..
