International airlines will need 33.500 new aircraft (for a total value of 4 trillion dollars) by 2030. This is stated by Boeing which also claims that of the total number of units, about 60% will be used to upgrade the fleet, while the remaining 40% will replace obsolete aircraft.

According to Boeing forecasts, 35% of total purchases will come from Asia. In fact, the aircraft manufacturer believes that Asian airlines will order 11.450 new airplanes by 2030, for a value of 1.500 trillion dollars. Randy Tinseth, Boeing's vice president for commercial aircraft, estimates that orders from Asia will come mostly for single-aisle airplanes, between 90 and 200 passenger seats, or for low-cost aircraft. To meet demand, Boeing will ramp up production of next-generation single-aisle models such as the 737 MAX, currently in the final stages of testing, and a larger version of the 787 Dreamliner (to be called the 787-10X) that can seating up to 320 passengers, 40 more than the 787-9 model.
