If Apple is worth as much as Italy

Apple's market capitalization has exceeded 2 trillion dollars, coming one step away from the value of the Italian GDP - The progression of the Apple is frightening: if it continues like this, it will soon be able to target France and the UK too

If Apple is worth as much as Italy

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), is it worth as much as Italy? Almost. It lacks a handful of billions, but it is easy to predict that this gap will also be filled in the short term. In 2020, the Apple stock, listed on the Nasdaq of wonders, gained something like 59%, bringing market capitalization at 2 trillion dollars. It's a historic record: no American company had ever achieved that much value.

All that remains is to check how much it is worth the Italian gross domestic product: according to World Bank data referring to 2018, the latest available, the GDP of our country amounts to 2.084 billion dollars. As if to say that Apple has almost caught up with us.

Now the question is: how long before overtaking? Little, probably. It is true that on the Stock Exchange past increases are no guarantee of anything (indeed), but the progression of Cupertino is really impressive: It took the stock 42 years to get to $XNUMX trillion and just two more to double the stakes to $XNUMX trillion.

If this continues, soon Apple will be able to target too the GDP of France (2.778 billion) and Great Britain (2.855 billion). It will still take a while, however, before giving the assault on his majesty Germany, which travels on much higher figures (3.948 billion).

Apple is therefore the queen of American high tech, which continues to drag the Nasdaq towards new records. In 2019 the sales of the Apple reached $290 billion, up 34% from $216 billion in 2018. And also this year the budget continues to smile: together with food and large-scale distribution, consumer technology is among the few sectors that has even benefited from the Covid-19 pandemic, because lockdowns around the world have encouraged consumers to buy high tech products. And so, in the second quarter of 2020, in full emergency, Apple's turnover still rose by 11%. Profitability did even better: +12%.
