ScuolaDigitaleTIM, to introduce students to IoT and robotics

The TIM project, implemented within the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Ministry of Education, University and Research, features middle school students from 15 Italian cities as protagonists, as well as all those who want to follow online teaching .

ScuolaDigitaleTIM, to introduce students to IoT and robotics

It started from L'Aquila ScuolaDigitaleTIM, the national project promoted by TIM as part of the memorandum of understanding signed with the MIUR, which introduces lower secondary school students to the key concepts of new technologies, the Internet of Things, Robotics. The initiative will also touch the cities of Milan, Rome, Catania, Padua, Florence, Naples, Bari, Turin, Bologna, Matera, Genoa, Udine, Cosenza and Cagliari.

In the classrooms of participating schools, ScuolaDigitaleTIM will involve around 3000 students aged 11 to 13 in workshops based on the creative-learning model, during which the students through the use of sensors and actuators (motors, lights and sounds) will be guided in the creation of small electronic prototypes and a real robot which, interacting via Bluetooth, will reveal the principles of the IoT and Machine 2 Machine communication.

The course aims to stimulate students' creativity and passion, transforming them from passive users of technology to aware and active users.

In parallel with classroom training, TIM will make multimedia content available through the platform scuoladigitale.tim.it. The aim is to make the educational content that the initiative intends to convey accessible to anyone. The portal will therefore be aimed both at those who have participated in classroom lessons, offering further insights, and at all potential interested children, their families and teachers: 9 video lessons, "didactic cards" (printable cards at home or consultable on PC, tablet and smartphone, with practical activities) and a moderated comments area.

At the conclusion of the project will be launched the online contest “Share the code”, open to all target students with the aim of collecting prototypes made with the skills acquired.

"ScuolaDigitaleTIM" was launched in 2016 and was initially aimed at school teachers of all levels with the aim of introducing them to digital tools. In the first edition, the initiative involved 4.500 teachers with over 200 meetings held throughout the country.

The project is realized with the collaboration of Codemotion.
