The protest involves both teachers and Atas, i.e. school staff – Lessons at risk for students on their first day back from the Christmas holidays.

School, teachers' strike on January 8: the holidays are getting longer

The first important strike of 2018 is that of the teachers, which is also destined to cause discussion as it will jeopardize the resumption of lessons after two weeks of holidays on January 8th. The agitation, which also affects school staff (permanent and fixed-term, atypical and precarious Ata), was called on Monday 8 January 2018, on what in theory should be the first day of school after the Christmas break.

A national demonstration is also planned in Rome, in front of the headquarters of the Ministry of Education in Viale Trastevere.

The strike was called by the SAESE trade union and Anief, Cub and Cobas also joined. At the origin of the decision to call the strike there are questions relating to contractual problems, but the heart of the protest is the support for master's graduates: a ruling by the Council of State affirmed that teachers who graduated before 2022 could lose their jobs and be canceled from the workforce and the right to be included in the rankings until exhaustion (Gae).
