School, quarantine and swabs: here are the new rules

The long awaited has arrived new rules on quarantine and swabs at school. The document, entitled "Indications for the identification and management of contacts of cases of Sars Cov infection in schools", was drawn up by theHigher Institute of Health, by the Ministry of Health, Education and the Regions and signed by the general director of health prevention, Giovanni Rezza, and the department head of the Ministry of Education, Jacopo Greco. It contains the indications to be respected in the event that they occur infections between teachers and students. Distance teaching will only start if there are at least three cases in the classroom, while with two positives there will be a selective quarantine, with different rules between vaccinated and unvaccinated. If, on the other hand, there is only one infected person, two negative swabs will be needed, but they will remain behind the school desks. Be careful though, because the rules also change according to different levels of education.

Here, in detail, what will be the rules on quarantine and tampons at school.

SCHOOL: THE RULES IF THERE IS A POSITIVE IN CLASS

There is a positive student in the class. In this case, from the seventh grade upwards, the classmates will have to do an antigenic or molecular swab as soon as possible, and no later than 48 hours from the emergence of the first positivity. If the result is negative, you go back to school immediately and then take a new test five days after the first one.

Different rules for teachers who have taught in the class of the positive student (or another infected teacher). Vaccinated teachers must immediately undergo a swab and, with a negative result, remain in the classroom. Unvaccinated teachers, on the other hand, must go into quarantine for 10 days even if the first test is negative. Once the quarantine is over, another negative swab is needed to return to class.

SCHOOL: THE RULES WITH TWO POSITIVES IN THE CLASS

Two positives in class. In this case, pupils vaccinated or who have contracted Covid in the previous six months are subject to the same rules indicated above: a swab immediately and a second swab after five days, remaining at school if the outcome is negative. Unvaccinated students, on the other hand, even with a negative test, must go into quarantine for 10 days. Same goes for the teachers.

Students under the age of 12 who, for the moment, cannot yet get vaccinated, in the presence of two positive cases in the classroom, must go into quarantine for 10 days.

SCHOOL: THREE POSITIVE IN CLASS

With three cases of Covid 19 in the classroom, teachers and students return to Dad, even if the first swab is negative. The quarantine is 7 days for the vaccinated and 10 days for the unvaccinated.

THE RULES FOR UNDER 12

The EMA and Aifa have not yet given the green light to vaccination for the under 12s. Which means that children who attend kindergarten, kindergarten, primary school and sixth grade are not vaccinated. What happen? In all these cases, the 10-day quarantine is triggered with a mandatory test at the end of the isolation even in the presence of only one positive case. Educators, teachers and other school operators who have carried out face-to-face teaching will be subject to 7 days (vaccinated) and 10 days (unvaccinated) of quarantine.

If a teacher or educator tests positive, however, the pupils remain in quarantine for 10 days, as well as for non-vaccinated staff. Vaccinated teachers and educators can instead remain in the classroom, undergoing two swabs: one "as soon as possible", the other 5 days after the first.
