School, for principals and teachers higher salaries in sight

The Government is thinking about substantial salary increases for the 7 principals in the next budget law - Today school principals are among the least paid in the management of the Public Administration - Shots also for teachers and technical staff of the school

Increases in sight for principals and teachers. Among the innovations arriving in the 2018 Budget Law, the government is thinking of including some innovations in the school sector: after the reform of the Buona Scuola, this time the executive would like to put even more hands on the wallet to guarantee, in particular to the 7 principals, substantial salary increases.

The principals, who receive an average of no more than 58 euros a year, have been to all intents and purposes public administration managers since 1998, but are among the least paid managers in the PA. The contract expired in 2010 and the average gross salary of school is stopped at 36.661,09 euros net: it is about 2.800 euros net on average per month. According to rumors, there is talk of an initial allocation of 90-95 million euros for the entire sector, i.e. not only principals but also teachers and technical and administrative staff, the so-called Atas, the latter being able to count on a basic salary of only 22 thousand euros per year.

However, while for professors and technicians the increase on the way is the 85 euro one which is already part of Minister Madia's reform on the renewal of the state contract, in the case of top management, or the principals, this increase from 85 euros will be added to the additional "charge" to be included in the next budget law. An acknowledgment that the Government wants to give to a figure made increasingly central by the reform of the Buona Scuola.
