Sixty-four million euros to be allocated to maintenance, decorum and functional restoration of school buildings, 3 million for the recognition of the Gran Sasso Science Institute: all the innovations approved by the CDM for the school – Ok also for the national DNA database.

The Council of Ministers meeting this morning approved some interesting innovations in the field of school and safety.

School
Green light from the CDM to extend the program called "Scuola Belle" to 30 November 2016 (the previous deadline was set at 1 April) in order to "ensure the continuation of minor maintenance, decoration and functional restoration interventions in schools". The Government has allocated 64 million of resources to be allocated to the improvement of national school buildings.

As part of the same decree, the recognition and stabilization of the Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI) International Doctoral Experimental School was approved to allow the continuation of activities. "This stabilization - commented the Minister of Education Stefania Giannini - fits into the framework of the government strategy on research: targeted investments and attention to young people". For the recognition of the school, a contribution of 3 million euros has been assigned starting from the year 2016.

Safety
The Council of Ministers has definitively given the green light to the provision that regulates the functioning of the national DNA database and the central laboratory for the national database necessary to strengthen the fight against terrorism and organized crime. The key role of the new mechanism will be to simplify the system for identifying missing persons.

Italy-Iran tax agreement
Also approved the bill for the ratification and implementation of the Italy - Iran agreement which eliminates double taxation in the field of income taxes and aims to prevent tax evasion.

Parma and Piacenza
Lastly, the CDM extended the state of emergency established for the cities of Parma and Piacenza after the floods of September 2015 "in order to allow the completion of the civil protection interventions already underway in the area".
