School: scholarships and financial campus for 45 "star players"

Scholarships and participation in a three-day financial education Campus at the Savings Museum in Turin. These are the prizes that 45 high school students won as part of the "School Champions" project. The boys competed in the competitions envisaged by the Miur's "Annual program for the enhancement of excellence" and will be awarded on November 18 at the National Museum of the Italian Risorgimento in Turin. The subjects covered by the competitions are the most diverse: physics and statistics, but also Italian, mathematics, information technology, chemistry, natural sciences, classical languages and civilizations and astronomy.

The initiative "marks a positive encounter between the lively supply of talents that our schools are able to offer and the heartfelt demand for participation in educational co-responsibility on the part of private subjects: this is proof of the richness of the open school", commented the Minister of Education, Stefania Giannini.

The project, carried out by the Foundation for Financial Education and Savings in collaboration with the Savings Museum of Turin and the Italian Banking Association, is included in the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Ministry of Education, University and of Research and by the Foundation for Financial Education and Savings to enhance the young talents of the Italian school through the contribution of philanthropic donations from foundations and other private entities.

"Giving young people the opportunity to reflect on the relationship between the world of work and training is not only important but a real emergency - said Andrea Beltratti, president of the Foundation for Financial Education and Savings - In Italy, according to data OECD, the dropout rate in high school (17%) is second only to that of Spain, adults with degrees are less than 20% of the population and the skills to find a job of our children are clearly inadequate compared to those of children residing in more dynamic economies.

During the campus, young people will be able to meet established entrepreneurs, learn about international financial institutions, explore thematic courses on entrepreneurship and attend team building and management training workshops.

"We believe that investing in human capital above all means pursuing meritocratic logics aimed at motivating young people to overcome their limits, not out of a competitive spirit but to build a better society - underlined Gian Maria Gros Pietro, chairman of the board of directors of Intesa Sanpaolo - . According to MIUR data referring to the 2014/2015 academic year, only 47% of 12-year-olds continue their university studies and only XNUMX% of regular students benefit from a scholarship. We therefore feel particularly close to this project, with which we fully share its philosophy and objectives".
