Scudetto, Champions, relegations: what a championship show

Naples and Juve dueling for the Scudetto, Inter, Fiorentina, Rome and Milan in the running for Europe, Carpi, Frosinone and Verona are trying to get the Genoese into trouble to save themselves: such an exciting championship on all fronts hasn't been seen for years – Here's what this weekend has in store for us in anticipation of the direct clash between Napoli and Juve on 13 February

Scudetto, Champions, relegations: what a championship show

It won't be the most beautiful championship in the world but in terms of competitiveness it is second to none. Serie A 2015/16 is offering emotions week after week and the same goes for all levels, without exception. From the Scudetto fight to the fight against relegation, passing through the tussle for third place and the Europa League, the placings are still open and, more importantly, completely indecipherable. The big news concerns the race for the title, in recent years reduced to a real black and white catwalk.

Juve is at stake again this year but now there is Napoli fighting strenuously, much more than Garcia's Roma, only formally involved in the tricolor fight. What we are about to experience should be an interlocutory round, with the Azzurri receiving Carpi at the San Paolo and the Bianconeri guests of Frosinone at the Matusa, all while waiting for next week's direct match: in Turin, Saturday 13 February, no he will decide nothing but certainly something will change, in one sense or another.

If anything, this 24th matchday could affect the tussle for salvation, given that Carpi and Frosinone, respectively third to last and penultimate, risk being left empty handed. The two Genoese could take advantage of it, although the crossing with the capital (the rossoblu will host Lazio, the blucerchiati will visit Rome) is anything but easy or obvious. Difficult tasks also for Palermo and Udinese (the away games against Sassuolo and Milan are prohibitive) while only a miracle would fuel the hopes of Verona, last in the standings with just 14 points (Sampdoria and Genoa, fourth last, have 24) and called to the feat at the Bentegodi against Inter. In short, from what can be seen, this round will present several crosses between the top and bottom of the championship, but woe to make rash predictions: in Serie A every point must be sweated out.

Fiorentina knows something about it, having escaped the Carpi trap only thanks to a goal by Zarate in full stoppage time: the Viola are still in third place but today (18 pm) they will have to fight strenuously to confirm themselves at the Dall'Ara in Bologna. Behind them are three teams hungry for the Champions League as never before, ready to take advantage of every slightest misstep. Inter, as previously mentioned, will play on Verona's field at the bottom of the standings (but recovering from 4 consecutive useful results), Roma will host a Sampdoria on the brink of the abyss, Milan a Udinese hitherto anonymous and depressed. There are at least 7 teams in the ford of "without goals": from the Sassuolo-Empoli duo (33 points for both, 6 less than sixth-placed Milan) up to the Chievo-Atalanta duo (27), passing through the Lazio, Bologna and Turin trio . Too low for dreams of glory and too high to really be afraid of the abyss, here it is the purgatory of Serie A. But the standings are short and there are still 15 days left: in short, it is useless to repeat that anything can still happen .
