Scudetto 2006: Inter are saved but only halfway through

The sports justice closes the proceedings on Moratti and Facchetti, but the assignment of the top national football title remains to be decided. To resolve the issue, the assessments that Stefano Palazzi will express in the next federal councils on 5 and 18 July will be decisive

Scudetto 2006: Inter are saved but only halfway through

Federal prosecutor Stefano Palazzi has closed the proceeding relating to the revocation of the 2006 Scudetto for the Nerazzurri. The sports justice thus puts an end to the proceedings against the then reference partner of Inter, Massimo Moratti, and the then president, Giacinto Facchetti, since they did not "emerge from the preliminary investigations and telephone contacts in specific deeds of disciplinary relief that can be prosecuted".

For the Milanese team, however, this is not a "mathematical salvation". As he points out The Gazette of Sports, the filing is the result of the expiry of the statute of limitations for the crimes attributed to the club and its members. But no statute of limitations applies to the assignment of a Scudetto, so it will be up to Palazzi himself to settle the dispute definitively. The question therefore remains open and will be discussed in the federal councils of 5 and 18 July.
