Scuderie del Quirinale: they reopen on 14 May 2021 with a major exhibition

The exhibition scheduled from 14 May to 25 July 2021 tells the romanization process, Which was clash, meeting and hybridization, starting from the extraordinary variety and cultural richness of pre-Roman Italy, a fascinating mosaic of peoples and traditions, and retraces the stages that led to its unification under the banner of Rome, from the XNUMXth century BC to the Julio-Claudian age.

The culture – declares the Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini– is marking the time for the country to restart and this important new exhibition at the Scuderie del Quirinale is another sign that demonstrates how there can be a high-quality cultural offer that respects security needs.

After the sudden, extraordinary experience of Raphael, – he declares Mario De Simoni, President and CEO of Ales – Scuderie del Quirinale- even the programming of the Scuderie del Quirinale had to deal with the effects of the pandemic, having to reschedule some international exhibitions, in agreement with foreign partners.

This, however, was the occasion to set up an exhibition of extremely high scientific value and strong symbolic meaning. An exhibition that was a tangible sign of the participation of the Stables in the reopening effort, that was a plastic representation of the harmonious collaboration of the entire Italian museum system, and that was a reminder of the values of national unity, in the year of the 160th anniversary

of the modern unification of Italy, the 150th anniversary of the proclamation of Rome Capital, the 75th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic.

With the project of Total Italy, – he concludes Massimo Osanna, Director General Museums of the Ministry of Culture– we wanted to tell the centuries-old process of cultural, linguistic, political, legal and territorial unification that led the many peoples of ancient Italy to recognize themselves, from the time of Augustus, as part of a single entity, under the sign of Rome. Different peoples in customs, languages and ways of living, inhabiting, building, honoring the dead and divinities, which re-emerge with great communicative force, in their suggestive, extraordinary differences, in the first part of the exhibition itinerary , in which exceptional works from the most important Italian museums converge, and which then gradually, in the continuation of the exhibition, present themselves, in fact, as part of a common, complex, varied and rich in diversity, but at the same time deeply unitary world: the Roman one. Much of today's Italy, from the law, to the language, to the cities and regions, up to the first great network of roads and the very form of the agricultural landscape, where the subsequent transformations were minor, descends from that first, great unification of the Peninsula.
