Scuderie del Quirinale: evening opening to the “Tota Italia” exhibition at the symbolic price of 1 euro

The initiative – organized by the French Ministry of Culture and sponsored by Unesco, by the Council of Europe and by ICOM – constitutes an opportunity to visit, in the evening, an exhibition of high cultural and symbolic importance curated by Massimo Osanna and Stéphane Verger, admiring, in the same exhibition venue, the most significant works of that variety expression that contributed to the formation of Augustan Italy and the Empire.

Along a coherent and unified itinerary, articulated on both floors of the Scuderie, it will be possible to admire in the same exhibition venue the most significant works of that expressive variety that contributed to the formation of Augustan Italy and the Empire. Over 400 exemplary exhibits, such as statues, furnishing elements, ceramic productions, testifying to the complex dialogue between Rome and the rest of the peninsula. The leitmotif of the first part of the exhibition will be the variety of Italic peoples before Roman unification; in the foreground, therefore, the social, cultural and artistic aspects characterizing the variegated ethnic composition of the Peninsula. The second part of the story will focus on the war, documented through iconic objects or large friezes figures capable of providing clear snapshots of Rome's expansion and the impact on its adversaries, starting from the Roman unification after the Punic wars up to the age of Augustus.

A unique opportunity to see gathered in the same place finds of absolute historical value, such as: the Throne decorated in relief from the Barberini Corsini National Galleries in Rome, the Portrait of Augustus with a veiled head from the National Archaeological Museum of the Marche, the Bust of Octavia Minor from the Roman National Museum-Palazzo Massimo alle Terme; iconic grave goods such as the kit from the "tomb of the two warriors", preserved in the "Massimo Pallottino" Archaeological Museum of Melfi and the kit from a female tomb from the necropolis of Montefortino d'Arcevia and kept in the National Archaeological Museum of the Marche. And again the Cista jewel case with archaic Latin inscription from the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia in Rome, the Table support with two griffins attacking a fawn from the Civic Museum of Ascoli Satriano up to the famous Relief with battle scene between a Greek knight and a Persian guarded at the Archaeological Museum of Taranto.

An evening of art and culture to which the Stables of the Quirinale take part also following the success of the appointment of last June 21 in which, on the occasion of the Music Festival 2021, promoted and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, the public was able to attend a special concert on the magnificent Terrace of the Scuderie held by the classical guitarist Gian Marco Ciampa with Andrea Obiso, first violin of the orchestra of Santa Cecilia.

It will be possible to visit the show from 20pm to 22pm (last admission at 21) al symbolic cost of 1€. No reservation is required and tickets can be purchased the same evening directly at the Scuderie del Quirinale.
