Illustrious heads fall at the top of Yahoo. Henrique de Castro, chief operating officer of the web giant, will leave his post today.
At least in appearance it is a sudden choice, a surprising and sudden change of direction. The announcement of de Castro's farewell, who will receive all the economic treatment due to him, was given, in fact, only yesterday, in a filling sent by the company to the SEC, the US equivalent of Consob.
To thicken the plot of the mystery, however, is above all the simplest of questions: why was the manager fired? The most accredited answer speaks of a clash between de Castro and Yahoo CEO Marissa Meyer, who would have been disappointed by the results obtained by her number two in stimulating the group's growth.
Meanwhile, the hunt for a successor has started, since the company has not yet indicated who will be the new general manager.
