Transport strike March 18: cities and times

Friday 18 March will be a day of hardship for Italian citizens. Tomorrow a general strike of all services will be held on a national scale: municipal offices, schools, hospitals, traffic police and courts. The protest was called by Cub, Si-Cobas, USI-Ait and Sbm for the whole day "against the war and the economic and social policy of the Renzi government".

As if that weren't enough, on the transport front, the stop of the LPT and the Ferrorive is expected.

As for Rome, the Prefect intervened on the protest, managing to halve the problems. Local public transport will stop for "only" 4 hours: the strike will last from 8.30 to 12.30, while in Milan the surface lines will remain closed from 8.45 to 15 and from 18 until the end of the service.

The railway sector will not experience easy times either. Trains stopped from 21pm on March 17th to 21pm on March 18th.

Fs informs that the Frecce will circulate regularly, while as regards regional trains, the company will ensure the essential services guaranteed by law in the event of a strike from 6 to 9 in the morning.

In Rome, the "Leonardo Express" train that connects Termini station to Fiumicino airport is guaranteed, while changes to the circulation program are envisaged for long-distance trains.

Finally, Trenord announces that from 21 pm on Thursday 17 March to 21 pm on 18 March, regional, suburban and long-distance trains may be subject to delays, changes or cancellations. However, the warranty ranges will be respected. (6-9 and 18-21). The airport connections "Milan Cadorna/Milan Central - Malpensa Airport" and "Malpensa Airport - Bellinzona" are also at risk.

Instead, it should be emphasized that the taxi strike scheduled for tomorrow against the deregulation of the sector has been "temporarily suspended".
