Taxi strike: sting coming

The wildcat strikes of last February could lead to heavy penalties for taxi drivers who would have illegitimately abstained from work, causing very heavy inconvenience to the citizens of the main Italian cities.

The Strike Guarantee Authority, after the "illegitimate" abstentions of taxi operators from 15 to 21 February in the cities of Rome, Bologna, Cagliari, Florence, Genoa, Milan, Naples and Turin, asked the Mayors for the names of individuals who, not having completed their ordinary shift of service, have illegitimately abstained from work. The purpose is to carry out checks in order to eventually be able to adopt the relative sanctions.

The news was announced by the Guarantor who, however, "acquits the unions": "at the end of the preliminary investigation procedure and the hearings held with the parties, he considered that the responsibility for the behavior put in place was not attributable to trade union organizations or trade associations ”.
