General strike November 20: schools, buses and civil servants stop

The Unione Sindacale di Base (USB) has called one general strike of the civil servants for Friday 20 November.

The protest will concern all employees of non-economic public bodies, but not those of companies with public shareholdings. Participants will therefore be school and university workers, local police, etc.

As regards the local public transport, the only company that has announced its participation in the strike is Roma TPL, the second public transport company in Rome after Atac, which covers the peripheral lines corresponding to around 20 percent of the city's public transport. The service will not be guaranteed from 8.30 in the morning to 17.00 and then from 20.00 at the end of the service.

The strike was called to protest against the new 2016 Stability Law which on Thursday 19 November «will leave the Budget Commission and land in the Senate chamber where President Grasso hopes it will be approved by Saturday 21 November» reads the USB press release.

Together with the general strike three were organized demonstrations in Milan, Rome and Naples. As for the Lombard capital, the event will take place in Largo Cairoli at 9.30. Appointment at 10.00 in Piazza Mancini in Naples and at and from 9.00 to 14.00 from via dei Cerchi in Piazza Sant'Andrea della Valle in the capital.
