Alitalia strike, canceled only 1 out of 5 flights

Limited inconvenience due to the 24-hour strike proclaimed from midnight and throughout the day today by the pilots and flight attendants of Alitalia Sai and Cityliner. In fact, the protest, called for today by the Anpac trade union, did not create serious disruptions for arriving and departing passengers, above all due to the low membership: in fact, by mid-afternoon it seems that the total of flights canceled by Alitalia should be less than 20% (in any case, the agitation excluded the stopovers of Bari, Brindisi and Genoa).

At the airport of Fiumicino, Alitalia's reference hub, there are no long queues at check-ins. The carrier, in anticipation of the strike, had in fact already canceled part of the flights at risk e rescheduled the departures and arrivals scheduled for the day, protecting intercontinental flights in particular, which are all regular at the moment. The company also provided prompt assistance in requesting relocations or refunds, and on disposition of ENAC granted two protected time slots: from 7 to 10 and from 18 to 21.

The mobilization of Anpac was proclaimed for the answers, considered insufficient, by the company, regarding the employment guarantees for the about a thousand redundancies arising after the merger with Etihad.
