Air strike May 21: Alitalia cancels 50% of flights, the info

Nightmare day for air travel. On Tuesday 21 May, a strike called by the unions Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl, Uiltrasporti and Ugl Transport Aereo risks paralyzing the Italian skies.

Stopping will be pilots, flight attendants, maintenance technicians of Alitalia, Blue Air and Blue panorama. Catering and handling staff and airport management staff will also be added to the list.

AIRCRAFT STRIKE MAY 21: TIMETABLES

Tuesday May 21 the strike will last 24 hours. There are two different warranty ranges:

  • by 7: 00 10 to: 00
  • from 18: 00 21 to: 00.

Anyone who has booked a flight for Tuesday should run for cover, inquiring with the companies involved.

AIRCRAFT STRIKE MAY 21: BLUE PANORAMA

"We inform you that following the national unrest proclaimed by the various trade unions for the entire day of May 21, the operational program of Blue Panorama Airlines and Blue Express may undergo changes which may lead to delays and/or cancellations".

This is the only message on the Blue Panorama Airlines website. At the moment, a list of the flights involved in the unrest is not available, nor of those that risk possible cancellations.

AIRCRAFT STRIKE MAY 21: ALITALIA AT RISK OF CHAOS

The situation is different for those who fly with Alitalia. The former national airline was "forced to cancel half of the flights, both national and international, scheduled for May 21, as well as some flights in the evening of May 20 and in the early morning of May 22", reads the website. Alitalia which has already provided one list of canceled flights.

An extraordinary plan has also been activated which establishes the use of more capacious aircraft in confirmed flights for the purpose of rebooking travelers involved in cancellations on the first available flights of the day: "60% of passengers will be able to travel on the same day of May 21" communicates Alitalia.

However, it is good not to be found unprepared. The company invites "all passengers who have purchased a ticket to fly on May 21 - and also on the evening of May 20 and in the early morning of May 22 - to check the status of their flight, before going to the airport, on the Alitalia website .com, by calling the toll-free number 800.65.00.55 (from Italy) or the number +39.06.65649 (from abroad), or by contacting the travel agency from which they purchased the ticket”.
