Air strike March 20: Alitalia cancels 40% of flights

Airplane strike throughout Italy. Today, Monday 20 March 2017, the air traffic controllers will fold their arms between 13 and 17. The unrest has led Alitalia to cancel 40% of scheduled flightsboth national and international. The guaranteed slots are 7-10 and 18-21. The complete list of canceled flights is available on the Alitalia website, together with detailed information on the rerouting methods which provide for the refund of the ticket or the possibility of changing one's flight without any penalty until 4 April.

Alitalia invites all travelers who purchased a ticket to fly on March 20 to check the status of their flight, before going to the airport, by calling the toll-free number 800.65.00.55 (from Italy) or the number +39.06.65649 (from abroad).

On 20 March, Alitalia will use more capacious aircraft on some domestic and international routes to limit inconvenience to passengers. In the airports of Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate, the company has planned a strengthening of its staff to ensure maximum assistance to customers. The number of call center employees was also increased.

On Thursday, however, there will be a taxi strike, which will stop once again to ask for stringent rules on rentals with driver and Uber. However, the protest is not unitary: a number of acronyms prefer to wait for the developments of the technical table of the government which is defining the new rules. The taxi drivers belonging to Fit Cisl taxi, Uil Trasporti taxi, Ugl taxi, Federtaxi Cisal, Usb taxi, Uti, Unica Cgil, Unimpresa will strike, while the drivers of the National Associations of Cooperation (Legacoop Servizi, Federlavoro and Servizi-Confcooperative) will not join. , Crafts (Confartigianato, Cna, Sna Casartigiani) and Commerce (Silt-Confcommercio).

Finally, on the air transport front, there will be a new agitation on April 5, with the strike of all Alitalia workers to protest against the 2 redundancies announced by the company in the new industrial plan, as well as the cuts in wages. Staff will be on lockdown for 24 hours.
