Strikes: Deutsche Post calls for help from Polish postmen

- strikes in Germany they ignite the creativity of managers and above all the controversies for the decisions they undertake. This is the case, for example, of the postal group Deutsche Post which, to buffer the effects of a new strike organized by the Verdi union, turned to one of its Polish branches, the DHL packet division.

A singular initiative that caused the wrath of the German trade unions. A spokesman for the German postal group explained that Deutsche Post made this choice because “they are experienced postmen who are voluntarily on duty in the capital area. Poland – he specified – is much closer to Berlin than some German cities such as Bonn ”.

According to readers of the German newspaper Tagesspiegel, however, these 'volunteer experts' of DHL Poland did not know a single word of German. Furthermore, it seems that the Polish postmen were paid with German salaries and that many of them slept in hotels for the period of their service at the expense of Deutsche Post. In short, a not negligible cost for a company that has 500 employees and that has found this trick to mitigate the consequences of a strike by over 2000 postmen.
