Schaeuble and Fitch promote Italy on reforms and Quirinale

The reforms of the Italian government and the outcome of the match on the Quirinale get the consent of two judges traditionally not very lenient towards our country: Wolfgang Schaeuble and Fitch.

During a speech held today in Berlin, the German finance minister, standard bearer of rigor, said that the executive headed by Matteo Renzi has "made the necessary reforms". Furthermore, according to Schaeuble, “France is heading in the right direction” and the Eurozone “is on the right track to become more competitive”. Even Greece has made progress that "beyond expectations".

As for the rating agency, in a statement released today Fitch writes that the rapid election of Sergio Mattarella al Colle “should help the Italian Government and Parliament to focus on institutional and economic reforms. Low growth prospects constitute a weakness from a rating point of view and effectively implementing growth-enhancing reforms would support Italy's credit profile. Fitch also recalls that last October it confirmed the BBB+ rating for Italy, with stable prospects.
