The European head of British Telecom, Conrad Sciolla, is leaving the company following the outbreak of the scandal over the accounting irregularities of the Italian subsidiary which cost the group £530m. “Corrado is leaving the company, what happened happened while he was in charge,” BT explained. British Telecom group gross profit fell 37% in the third quarter (ended 31 December) to £526 million.
