The Ministry of the Economy announces that an incoming decree will postpone the tax deadline that affects over four million taxpayers, for a total revenue estimated at 29 billion euros

Irpef and Ires deadline: postponement from 30 June to 20 July

To ease the burden on the shoulders of millions of taxpayers (both professionals and businesses), the government has decided to postpone the end of June tax deadlines to 20 July. This was announced by the Treasury late Monday evening, anticipating the content of a forthcoming decree from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. The referral is very important, because it means that the personal income tax deadline is postponed for 20 days, from the 30 June to the 20 July precisely. The same also applies to the corporate income tax deadline (IRES).

"To take into account the impact of the Covid-19 emergency on the operations of smaller taxpayers and, consequently, on the operations of their intermediaries - reads the note published on the website of the Ministry of Economy – the Dpcm is being issued which extends the deadline for payment of the 2019 balance and the first 2020 advance for income tax and VAT purposes, for taxpayers affected by the application of the Synthetic Reliability Indices (ISA), including those adhering to the flat-rate scheme. The payment deadline expiring on 30 June will be extended to 20 July, without payment of interest”.

The postponement does not affect everyone, but, essentially, the audience on which the ISAs are cut out, i.e. the Synthetic Fiscal Reliability Indices. The perimeter of the slip therefore also includes the VAT numbers on a flat-rate basis and lows. In all, the tally comes to include nearly 4,5 million potential taxpayers.

Calculator in hand, for the Treasury coffers the deadlines subject to the latest postponement announced by the Treasury are worth - including substitute taxes - a revenue of 29 billion euros.
