Alfredo Saenz resigns as CEO of Santander. The banking group has announced that Javier Marin, head of the insurance sector and the management of assets and private banks of the group, will take his place.

Alfredo Saenz, who had held the post of managing director since 2002, was sentenced in 2011 to three months in prison with the interdiction of the position for an affair dating back to 1994 but was then pardoned by the Spanish government. However, the Bank has recently proceeded with the partial cancellation of this pardon.
