Banco Santander will close 140 branches in the UK. The measure, which puts you at risk 1.270 jobs, the Spanish banking giant announced on Wednesday.
Santander explained that it made this decision due to the 23% decline in transactions registered at branches over the past three years. During the same period, digital transactions instead doubled.
Santander explained that it has started negotiations with the unions to try to find new roles for the personnel affected by the measure and expects to be able to assign at least new functions one third of employees.
