After a morning of quarrels and controversies, the Senate Hall has rejected the motion of no confidence against the Minister of Tourism Daniela Santanchè proposed by the M5s and supported by Pd and Avs. Pd, M5S and Verdi-Italian left voted in favor of the motion. Action and Italia Viva did not participate in the vote, while the majority voted solidly against, only to explode in brief applause after the rejection of the motion calling for the minister's resignation. In total there were 67 votes in favour, against 111 and no abstainers.

At Palazzo Madama they were ten out of 25 ministers were present including Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini and the Minister of Civil Protection, Nello Musumeci. Santanché, who remained in the Chamber at the time of the vote, sitting on the benches of the government, on leaving she limited herself to stating "It was a beautiful day."

After the discussion on the no-confidence motion and before the vote, the Minister of Tourism spoke in the Chamber, stating that: “I don't intend to go into the merits as I have already explained the facts clearly and transparently. I reiterate that on 5 July I had not been reached by information or a guarantee notice from the Milan prosecutor's office". “Even the newspapers – she continued – wrote that the guarantee information arrived at my residence on July 17th. So I told the truth in the Chamber”

“In the speeches by the representatives of opposition groups, I have never found any criticism or censure relating to the exercise of my duties as minister. There may be differences of opinion, differences that I respect – she added -. On the other hand, I have some difficulty understanding how an individual no-confidence motion can be promoted on the basis of elements of a pseudo-journalistic investigation, which does not have my work as Minister of the Republic as its object". “But which has as its object facts which, if they are brought to light, prior to my oath as a minister“, concluded Santanchè.

Bagarre in the Chamber

During the discussion there were moments of tension between the majority and the opposition. Screams and chants “Shame on you! Shame!' by centre-right senators against the M5s senator, Hector Licheri, who concluded his speech in the Chamber calling the majority "clowns"., during the discussion of the no confidence in minister Daniela Santanchè, proposed by the 5S.
