How much did the 68th edition of the Sanremo Festival cost and how much are the proceeds? – Between the conductors' cachet, "expense reimbursements" for singers and advertising revenues, here are all the figures of the historic Kermesse.

Sanremo 2018: how much does it cost? The accounts in your pocket at the Festival

Here we are, on Tuesday 6 February the curtain will rise on the 68th Festival della Canzone Italiana. Everything is now ready for Sanremo 2018 and like every year, waiting to listen to the songs in the competition, comment on the stylistic choices of the protagonists and judge the performances of musicians and conductors mixes with the usual cost disputes. A tradition by now, despite the fact that in recent years Rai has clearly reversed course by transforming one Kermesse historically in the red in a Festival where you spend less and, above all, close with a profit.

SANREMO 2018: ALL THE FIGURES

The 2018 edition of the Sanremo Festival, based on what was confirmed by the director of RaiUno, Angelo Teodoli, in an interview withHandle, it will cost 16,6 million euros, including the agreement with the Municipality of Sanremo. A figure that to the ears of many will be very high, but which in reality is not alone in line with what was spent last yearo, but it is also very far from monstrous expenses for the three-year period 2009-2012, when for each single edition Rai spent more than 20 million euros to collect just over half of it, losing a total of around 30 million euros.

To judge the "economic performance" of Sanremo 2018 it is necessary to look not only at the "costs", but also at the revenues. Well, observing both entries, as happened in 2017, the Festival will close with profits. According to the numbers provided by Teodoli, advertising sales already amount to 25 million euros (at this juncture, the lion's share will be played by Tim, the main sponsor of the event), to which we must add another million euros which falls under the heading of "commercial revenues" which are nothing more than tickets sold to attend the singing event directly from the Ariston theater.

On balance, therefore, the balance of Sanremo 2018 will close with profits for 9-9,5 million euros.

SANREMO 2018: THE FEES OF CONDUCTORS AND SINGERS

Let's face it, often the curiosity to know the fees of the conductors exceeds that of listening to the songs in the competition. So many will want to know that, for Sanremo 2018, the amount spent for the three conductors amounts to a total of 1 million and 300 thousand euros, almost double compared to last year. How did they split?

The "salary" of the artistic director, Claudio Baglioni, amounts to 600 thousand euros, while Michelle Hunziker will earn 400 thousand euros, a much lower figure than the one collected 10 years ago, when the Swiss presenter collected 1 million euros. The third conductor of the 68th edition is Pier Francesco Favino, whose remuneration is equal to 300 thousand euros.

The Big in the race they will instead be able to count on a "reimbursement of expenses", the amount of which usually amounts to around 40 thousand euros.

SANREMO 2018: HOW MUCH DOES ADVERTISING COST?

The cost of individual advertising spaces varies according to the time of day and the evenings. The first and last commercial break prime time, for example, are sold for 241 thousand 500 euros, while the price of billboard advertising is equal to 210 thousand euros.
