Healthcare, unlock the recruitment of doctors and nurses

Lo release of recruitment in healthcare it's getting closer. Regions, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of the Economy have finally come to an agreement - during the State-Regions Conference - to overcome the 1,4% spending constraint, a stake that has weighed down the national health system over the years, affecting also the services offered.

In detail, spending in 2018 will become the benchmark for hiring. This means that the Regions will have the possibility of increasing the funds to be allocated to the entry of doctors and nurses from year to year. There may be more money available, using 5% of the National Health Fund increases each year.

Speaking in figures, for this year, the standard puts a available to the Regions around 50 million euros who will be used for the recruitment of health personnel.

Obviously, for the moment it is an agreement which, however, should flow into the first useful provision.

"In recent days I have continued my commitment to overcome the anachronistic hiring freeze imposed on the entire national health system since 2009", comments the Minister of Health, Giulia Grillo, in a post on Facebook.

The standard could represent a real breath of fresh air for the sector, given that, underlines the CGIL, the last ten years health would have lost about 50 personnel and losses could even increase given the impact of early retirements and 100 quotas.

However, the category assurances do not seem too convinced. “The provision needs to be studied, but fixing the expenditure for 2018 compared to that of 2009 means historicizing the loss recorded in recent years, equal to 50 nurses and 10 medical managers. Meaning what, healthcare workers lost from 2009 to 2018 will no longer be recovered“, underlines Carlo Palermo, national secretary of the Association of doctors and managers of the National Health Service (Anaao Assomed), who adds: “If the 50 million provided were intended only for the recruitment of doctors, it would only be enough for 500 white coats”.
