Healthcare, Banco Bpm finances the Antirion Aesculapius fund

Banco BPM Spa supported Antirion SGR Spa, manager of the Æsculapius Fund, with over 32 million euros, for the realization of real estate investments in healthcare facilities. The Antirion Æsculapius fund is an alternative real estate investment fund which invests primarily in healthcare properties intended for healthcare and hospitality purposes and is the owner, among others, of the building in which the San Giuseppe Clinic in Milan is located, managed by Multimedica Spa. The Fund's reference shareholder is the ENPAM Foundation, the of social security and assistance for Italian doctors and dentists.

Mortgage financing will be employed for the purchase of two real estate assets. The first concerns a clinic, the Tuscan Surgical Center in Arezzo; structure of excellence accredited by the National Health Service. The second is an assisted healthcare residence, located close to the historic center of Bologna. The structure was converted into an RSA in 1999 as a home for the elderly with 100 beds.

“Institutional investors' attention towards the healthcare sector is growing for various reasons and it certainly has not only economic implications but also has important impacts on our communities. The contingent situation further confirms the need for the country to invest in solid realities. Banco BPM is particularly attentive to these dynamics and we are satisfied with the operation and the collaboration started some time ago with Antirion”, he says Francesco Minotti, Head of the Institutional, Institutions and Third Sector Department.

“It is increasingly clear that private and contracted healthcare is a synergistic sector with the public one and that it needs to grow and develop excellence spread throughout the territory. Through our Aesculapius Fund we are trying to build a portfolio of structures diversified by mission, specialization and geographical location, precisely to contribute to what will necessarily be a process of modernization of personal care and assistance in Italy", he declared Ofer Arbib, CEO of Antirion.
