St. Petersburg: 2 explosions in the subway

Double explosion in the blue line of the St. Petersburg Metro. According to what Reuters reports, which in turn cites the Tass agency, the victims are at least 10.

I 47 would be injured, of which six are in serious condition, according to reports from the Russian news agency RIA Novosti. At least seven stations have been closed.

Photos posted on social media show a gutted carriage and bodies on the platform. A witness reported by Reuters counted eight ambulances near the Sennaya Ploshchad metro station.

Again for Novosti, they would be at least two stations involved: Sennaya metro station and Tekhnologichesky Institut station. According to sources quoted by the Interfax agency, the explosion was caused by a homemade bomb "probably left on a wagon before the convoy left", and therefore not by a suicide bomber. The bomb had been made more dangerous by adding "harmful elements". And an unexploded device was found in another St. Petersburg metro station, Ploshchad Vosstaniya.

As for the causes, the Attorney General seems to have no doubts: "It was terrorism." "The prosecutors - said the spokesman of the general prosecutor's office Aleksandr Kurennoi, quoted by the Interfax agency - will do everything possible to clarify all the details concerning this attack so that nothing of the kind will happen in the future".

The Kremlin leader is present in the city today, Vladimir Putin, who spoke at a media forum.
