San Marino chaos: the Government distrusts the General Manager of the Central Bank

The Government of the Republic of San Marino has disheartened the General Manager of the Central Bank, Lorenzo Savorelli. The members of the Committee for Credit and Savings (Ccr) asked for no confidence.

In the viewfinder is the line taken by the Central Bank in managing the crisis in the credit sector and, in particular, in Casasa di Risparmio. The clash between the Government and the director general exploded on the morning of 30 August, when Savorelli presented the report on the situation of the Cassa di Risparmio to the CCR.

The report pointed the finger at the responsibilities of the directors, including the former deputy director Vladimiro Renzi, father of the foreign minister of San Marino. Furthermore, the report anticipated the news of a request for further investigation by the International Monetary Fund.

Although the majority that leads the Titan has up to now supported the line of transparency and agreement with international financial institutions supported by the Central Bank, the decision to distrust Savorelli came unanimously. "During the meeting, the Credit and Savings Committee, within the scope of its institutional responsibilities - refers in fact in a note from the body chaired by the Secretary of State for Finance, Simone Celli - after careful discussion and evaluation, considered of not being able to consider existing today that necessary and unavoidable relationship of trust which characterizes the permanence of the General Manager".

The middle finger shown to the press by Savorelli during the Rimini Meeting caused a sensation.
