Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets will be available in the Netherlands today. The sale of these tablets has been banned in other European countries following a lawsuit brought by its American rival Apple. Tamara Villano, spokeswoman for the Dutch division of Samsung, said the tablet will go on sale from Tuesday 16 June at a chain of stores specializing in IT and multimedia products and "from 23 August at a larger number of retailers".

On August 9, the German court in Dusseldorf banned the sale of Galaxy Tab 10.1 in all of Europe, except in the Netherlands, which managed to escape the ban due to procedural issues. Samsung filed an appeal the following day and the court will reconvene on August 25. "Whatever the decision, we will be able to continue our commercial activities as planned until October 13," said Tamara Villano. Samsung will in fact have a delay of four weeks after the date of the judgment to withdraw its products from sale if the court agrees with Apple.

But Apple legal battle it doesn't end there. In fact, Steve Jobs' company last week requested the court in The Hague to prohibit the sale of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet, two other tablet models and three types of Samsung smartphones. The court will have to issue the sentence by 15 September. According to a spokesman in The Hague, Apple is trying to put an end to the confusion that reigns between its products and those of Samsung, accused of patent infringement.
