Samsung: record profits in the fourth quarter, +8,3 billion dollars

Samsung's 2012 fourth quarter will report a profit of 8,3 billion dollars (8,8 trillion won), which would represent a new record for the South Korean multinational. The very high sales of Galaxy smartphones are driving the company's profits. The profits of the mobile division alone, in fact, amount to around 5,8 trillion won. For the moment, the numbers are the result of a projection, while the official results for the fourth quarter should be published on January 25th.

For Samsung it is the fifth consecutive record quarter, even if the trend, thanks to the lower seasonal demand, risks stopping in the first quarter of 2013. The levels, however, thanks to smartphones and the increase in the price of chips, should remain very tall.
