Samsung suffers in China and is preparing to cut a thousand jobs

The Korean giant suffers not only from Apple's dominance but also from the growth of local brands such as Huawei and Xiaomi: according to the QQ portal, it is about to cut a thousand jobs in China.

Samsung is struggling on the smartphone market in China, and would be forced to cut 1.000 jobs, which is practically one job out of 10 in the Asian country. This is supported by the qq.com portal, owned by the Chinese telecommunications group Tencent.

According to qq.com, the performance of the Korean company in China is not only affected by Apple's dominance but also by the growth of local brands such as Huaewi or Xiaomi. In the second quarter of 2015, Samsung, the global smartphone sales leader, only sold one in 10 smartphones in and around Beijing, about 10,8% of the total of almost 100 million pieces sold: the market share has thus fallen this year to 21,9%, from 26% in 2014. Samsung currently employs 275.000 people worldwide, of which more than half (about 165.000) are engaged in production, particularly in the Asian continent.
