Samsung fly on the wings of smartphones. The South Korean tech giant has shut down the third quarter with a new record of net income: 6.600 trillion won (5,97 billion dollars), a figure practically doubled compared to the same period last year. Operating profits rose to 8,120 billion won ($7,4 billion), up 91% from a year ago.
Samsung is increasingly the undisputed record holder for the number of smartphones sold: in the July-September quarter, the Asian company reached 56,3 million pieces, including the new Galaxy S III (18 million pieces sold, against 27 million for the 'Apple iPhones). The mobile phone revenue is 26.250 trillion won, half of the total revenue.
