Samsung beats Apple on time: its the first smartwatch

We will always be smarter, but we may not get smarter. The first battle, the one against time, is won by Samsung: the first mass smartwatch will be marketed by the Korean company, which preceded Apple. The announcement came yesterday evening, at the Tempodrom in Berlin, home of the Ifa technology fair. The Galaxy Gear, this is the name of the smart watch, will be on the market from September 25th.

But what is this smartwatch all about? It is a wristwatch, with an essential and metallic design, with a 1,63-inch screen which, in addition to telling us the time like any self-respecting watch, can also be the appendix of a mobile phone (obviously Samsung Galaxy, from S3 onwards), to which it connects via bluetooth.

The Galaxy Gear isn't the first product of its kind, but it's certainly the most advanced and the first with serious possibilities for mass consumption: it will go on sale in 149 countries at a price of $299. Among its functions, in addition to the basic ones (messages, notifications and call alerts), also the possibility of answering phone calls directly, given that the smartwatch in question is equipped with a speaker and microphone, as well as a 1.9 megapixel camera.

What about Apple? The Cupertino house will certainly not stand by and watch, even if this delay risks burning: iWatches should be launched next year, while Google is mainly focused on the production of glasses.

We will become smarter, even if, perhaps, talking with our wrist will not make us seem smarter.
