Salva-banks, Guzzetti (Acre): "Savings are safe"

With the rescue plan of Carife, CariChieti, Banca Etrurria and Banca Marche, the Government has made it possible "to secure savings and employment levels". This was stated by Giuseppe Guzzetti, president of Acri, the association that brings together Italian foundations and savings banks.

“The resolution mechanism developed, with the resources of Italian banks, therefore private – he added – represents a way that allows the interests of the territories to be protected without putting their hands in the pockets of citizens. The narrow-mindedness of the European Union authorities has prevented alternative solutions, proposed for months by national institutions, which are less onerous and more advantageous for the local communities and for the entire community, also without costs for public finances”.

“The Association is working to ensure that the presence of the Foundations in the same territories is safeguarded and their support to the communities of reference is not lacking – concluded Guzzetti -. It is also necessary to point out that the Foundation system, certainly affected by the crisis of some credit institutions, is in any case solid and will continue its beneficial action with even greater vigor. The Protocol signed last April between Acri and the Ministry of Economy and Finance, strongly supported by our Association, will prevent other similar cases from occurring in the future”.
