From Tuesday 11 October theENEA presents its most innovative research in the health field in a cycle of four in-depth meetings entitled "ENEA for Health” which will continue until next year. All events will be held in Rome at the ENEA conference room in Via Giulio Romano 41.
Il first focus (11 October at 9.30) will be dedicated to scientific innovation in the treatment of human and animal wounds. The clinical experiences in various national structures and the results obtained from the MIX 557 ointment, patented by ENEA and based on a particular composition of St. John's wort and Neem oil, will be illustrated.
The innovative value of this product is given by the possibility of treating wounds of any size and nature from the moment of the trauma until complete healing without using the common disinfectants and antibiotics responsible for the growing incidence of microbial resistance. The drug has demonstrated its effectiveness especially for the treatment of burns, even of severe extent, and for the treatment of chronic wounds.
In second meeting the activities carried out in the field of male infertility and genetic and inflammatory diseases will be presented.
During third event, centered on technologies for the treatment of tumors, will be illustrated, for example, the TOP-IMPLART project which envisages the construction of an innovative irradiation system with protons for oncological treatments. Funded by the Lazio Region, this linear accelerator patented by ENEA will mainly be used to treat ocular, pediatric and skull tumors up to 15 cm deep.
Il room he last event will concern the theme of the relationship between nutrition and health, ranging from research on food safety to the development of functional foods and new products with nutraceutical properties.
ENEA, the Agency's press release explains, “is engaged in the development of innovative solutions for health through the integration of its expertise in biomedicine, biotechnology, physics, materials science and computing systems. One of the main sectors of intervention consists in the application of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, starting from research on the biology of tumors up to preclinical experimentation”.
Furthermore, in the laboratories of the ENEA Casaccia Research Centre, the Health Protection Technologies and Methodologies Division, in collaboration with other Agency structures, "conducts experimental studies aimed at characterizing the mechanisms at the origin of pathologies with a high social impact, and to the development and validation of models, strategies and products for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, in collaboration with the hospital world and small and medium-sized enterprises".
