Skip the summit with Monti, Berlusconi does not go to Vespa

Alfano does not want to discuss Rai and justice and blows up the meeting with Monti Casini and Bersani - The former prime minister deserts the Porta a Porta living room at the last moment so as not to fuel the controversy over the role of the PDL secretary - Lega in the eye of the storm for "Padania ladrona".

But what happens in the PDL? Shortly after Silvio Berlusconi had canceled his participation in tonight's "Porta a porta" broadcast, it was the turn of the secretary Angelino Alfano to announce that he would not go to the afternoon summit convened by Prime Minister Monti, and in which Bersani would also participate to the Democratic Party and Casini for the Third Pole.

“Support for the government has been confirmed to me – said Prime Minister Mario Monti -. Collaboration with the political forces that support him in Parliament is vital for the government and fundamental for the country. I have no sign that this collaboration has cracked or is cracking: indeed the opposite has been confirmed to me, that is the convinced and continuous support of the political forces".

Alfano, reiterating that tomorrow his party will vote for confidence in the Government, explained the reasons for today's decision with the fact that his party has no intention of speaking about Rai and justice. Where by Rai we mean the governance of the company, but also the question of the assignment of frequencies (there was also a meeting between Monti and Fedele Confalonieri), and by justice we mean above all the anti-corruption measures, particularly current after the scandals which take place in the Lombardy Region and which involve exponents of the Pdl, the Pd (Penati) and lately also the League.

Everything suggests that the decision to blow up the summit with Monti came after this morning's newspapers had reported a meeting between Bersani and Casini, in which, among other things, both anti-corruption measures and Rai governance were discussed . These things are not the responsibility of the technical government for the general staff of the PDL, which has to deal with work and spread, leaving the rest to the free confrontation of the parties in Parliament. Naturally, Alfano's stance left Casini and Bersani dumbfounded, and the latter described it as "incredible".

Meanwhile, the situation in the PDL, and more generally in the former majority that supported the Berlusconi government, is beyond all levels of guard is confirmed by two other facts: Berlusconi's non-participation in the Bruno Vespa broadcast, and what continues to happen to the region Lombardy after the vice president of the regional council, the Northern League Boni was investigated for a bribe of one million euros. Berlusconi explained that he had to cancel his commitment with Vespa, after it had been pointed out to him in the party that that participation would have further weakened the role of secretary Alfano, of whom the former prime minister himself had said: "He lacks something ”. Naturally raising a large number of controversies before the predictable denial. In short, this time it would have been the PDL that would have led its founder to take a step back.

As for the League, the situation is equally confused. The new scandal involves it precisely in that Lombardy region, for which Bossi had repeatedly threatened the exit of the League from the junta, "since they arrest one a day". This time the attitude of the Northern League leader is different. In fact, according to the Northern League leader, Boni is the victim of the fact that today the League is the only one that opposes the government. Nor should it be overlooked that within the Lega Boni, originally very close to Minister Calderoli, was given an approach towards "the dreaming barbarians", the current of Roberto Maroni. The question then remains whether the real scandal concerns the League or not above all the leadership of the region as a whole, and its president. Given that Formigoni has repeatedly been involved in disconcerting episodes: from the by now manifestly false signatures presented under the electoral list in support of him, to the recent interceptions on the favors that would have been granted to Don Verzè. Of course, investigations are not necessarily sentences. But the political problem is all there.
