Il Munich Auto Show will be inaugurated this afternoon by the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, and will remain open to the public from tomorrow, Tuesday September 7, Up to Sunday 12. The event, which replaces the traditional Frankfurt appointment, restarts the whirlwind of international exhibitions and therefore represents an important stage in the fight for a return to normalcy, even if the pandemic has not yet been defeated.

Of course, in order to comply with the anti-contagion rules, the Bavarian version of the Auto Show will have to significantly reduce the opulence to which the Frankfurt editions had accustomed us. But exposure will also have a new meaning compared to the past, entering for the first time in the context of the energy transition. Attention to sustainable mobility he even suggested changing the name of the event from IAA (Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung) to IAA Mobility.

As for the contents, the main innovations concern spaces and events related to light mobility, in addition to what is presented as the largest European event dedicated to bike.

Then, of course, there are the cars. bmw – which has its museum-headquarters in Munich, just a stone's throw from the Show – presents the new models that fall within the strategy for sustainability: from the battery-powered iX to the fully electrified range, from the hydrogen hX5 to the clean micro-mobility proposals, passing for the Mini range, which is moving towards the abandonment of internal combustion engines.

Mercedes replies with eight new models, almost all electric or electrified: from the micro-Suv by Smart to the 63 HP AMG GT 843 SE Performance, from the EQE to the Maybach.

The third German giant, Volkswagen, in addition to anticipating the ID.5 GTX, it brings the innovations of Audi and Porsche and inaugurates the electric future of Cupra with the Born EV.

Among the non-German car manufacturers, the protagonist is Renault, which mainly offers two new products: the revisiting of a classic, the Megane (also electric), and the Dacia Jogger.

Finally, on the Asian scene, there is anticipation for the renewed versions of two Korean classics: the MPV Hyundai Staria and the Kia Sportage (the second also with plug-in hybrid engine).
